The 2014 Toyota Tundra displays a fairly extensively refresh and lifestyle facelift inside and out while maintaining the current engines and drivetrains.

The 4.0-liter V-6, 4.6-liter V-8, and 5.7-liter V-8 all carry over with the same power ratings and transmissions that include a five-speed automatic for the V-6 and six-speed automatics for the V-8s. The 381-hp output of the big-dog 5.7-liter iForce V-8 delivers expected results and comes ready for rebounding housing and property development markets.

There have been no announcements regarding fuel economy changes. The 2013 figures for the 5.7 liter engine are 13/18 mpg city/highway for the 4×2 model and 13/17 mpg for the 4×4 model.

Toyota will most likely produce a convertible version of its 86 sports coupe.

A New Toyota Convertible

The Company says an FT-86 Open Concept will be its star attraction at next month’s Geneva motor show to “gauge customer reaction for an open-top version”.
Yet Toyota confirms that prototype engineering assessments are already taking place so putting it into production seems to be a done deal.

Given the success of the coupe including winning Drive Car of the Year, a much needed convertible is the next logical step and works well with Toyota’s plans to liven its image.

There are no mechanical details of the car. It’s unlikely though to depart from the same set up that has made the coupe so popular. As far as the top goes, a soft top roof is the most likely choice. Toyota will want to keep weight, cost and complexity down.
