Here is a brief Tutorial on Vehicle Control for new Tacoma, Tundra, and Sequoia owners who may not fully understand th VSC-Off Button operation(Vehicle Stability Control). First of all here are some vehicle control terms and a short meaning that apply.

  • VSC-Anti-lock brake and trac systems that help control skids while turning and vehicle control
  • Trac-helps prevent driving wheel slippage
  • Auto-LSD-Slows a spinning wheel, applies torque to wheel with traction

There are circumstances where having VSC and Trac off are advantageous such as when more engine speed or torque are required. Also one might want all three off at certain times. Below is a chart that serves as a quick operational guide for this function:

 TACOMA                      VSC               TRAC         AUTO LSD

Normal                              ON                    ON                OFF

Briefly Push VSC Once       ON                    OFF               ON

Push/Hold VSC 3 SEC.      OFF                    OFF               OFF

Push VSC Once Again        ON                    ON                OFF

TUNDRA/SEQUOIA        VSC               TRAC           AUTO LSD

Normal                              On                    On                   Off

Briefly Push VSC Once       On                   Off                    On

Push VSC Hold 3 SEC        Off                   Off                    On

Scion Owners Behave!!… A study by ISO Quality Planning identified the 10 most ticketed vehicles and the 10 least ticketed. The study puts the Hummer H2 and H3 at the top of the list, followed closely by and get this the Scion tC and two other Scion models, the xB and xA.

What are 3 Scion Models, a Toyota Matrix, and a Solara doing on a top 10 ticket list??… Analysis helps make this more explainable.

Scion tc and the other models including the Toyotas have an average customer age of 25 years old;… and with plenty of aftermarket performance accessories available out there, Scion and Matrix demographics skew to the early 30s (still feeling fearless) according to parent company, Toyota. That popularity with youthful drivers, who typically translate into a higher incidence of violations helps explain Scion and Toyota’s new notoriety.

A couple of Mercedes-Benz AMG models, the CLK63 and CLS63 also make the list, which shouldn’t come as a surprise. The 10 least ticketed cars include a healthy dose of minivans and trucks.

Most ticketed Rate                                 Least ticketed Rate
Hummer H2/H3 463%                             Jaguar XJ 11%
Scion tC 460%                                          Chevrolet Suburban 16%
Scion XB 403%                                         Chevrolet Tahoe 21%
Mercedes Benz CLK63 AMG 397%           Chevrolet 3500/2500 28%
Toyota Solara Coupe 306%                      Buick Park Avenue 32%
Mercedes Benz CLS63 AMG 276%           Mazda6 34%
Scion xA 275%                                         Buick Rainier 37%
Subaru Outback 266%                              Buick Lucerne 40%
Toyota Matrix 264%                                 GMC C1500 pickup 40%

*Violations per 100,000 miles driven, expressed as percentage of average.

The study doesn’t specify what kinds of traffic tickets, so there’s no telling if Hummers or Scions are more likely to speed or run red lights, but you could probably make some reasonable guesses. I would say Scion Owners Behave!!

The above aside, Scion and Toyota are the Highest Rated Cars you can buy for Quality, Reliability, and Longevity. And you can buy any of them with an Exclusive Lifetime Warranty. For more information, Inquire Below:

***UPDATE***    “Thanks to a more powerful four-cylinder engine and other upgrades for 2009, the RAV4 narrowly outscored the Subaru Forester to remain Consumer Reports’ Top Pick for another straight year. It provides agile handling, a roomy and quiet interior, a comfortable ride, and an optional third-row seat. The four-cylinder version gets the best fuel economy of any automatic, nonhybrid SUV we’ve tested. And the spirited V6 version accelerates as quickly as a Mazda Miata, while getting only 1 mpg less than the four-cylinder. ESC and curtain air bags are standard…”

The Economy is in a precarious situation and the Markets are shall we say “Gone with The Wind” !

Yet there are still buyers who want to sit up higher than they do in a car, enjoy the flexibility of an SUV, but need to be prudent with fuel economy and their personal budget.

All of this along with the fact that larger Toyota SUV’s will be in very limited production for 2009  makes the 2009 Toyota Rav4 “The SUV For The Times” !

And Why Not!…The Rav4 has always been a Consumers Report Best Buy / Top Pick, is extremely reliable, it gets  30  Plus MPG, and once sold new, rarely is traded in…Folks tend to hang on to a Rav4 Forrr Everrr!…

Lets take a closer look at the 2009  Rav4. There are 3 models, Base, Sport, and Limited available in both 2WD and 4WD versions.

All three models have the same standard features including 2.5- liter 180 hp. 4 cyl. engine and 4-spd automatic transmission with an optional 3.5-liter 269 hp. engine and 5-spd automatic available. Electric power steering, power assist brakes, windows, locks, cruise control, CD-radio, and Toyota Star Safety System. are also standard on all three. The Base and Limited are available with 5 or 7 passenger seating.

The differences between the three models are with the Additional Option Accessories.

  • The Sport includes 18″ alloy wheels, full size alloy spare tire, sport-tuned suspension, fog lamps, color-keyed fender flares, door handles, and foldable heated power side mirrors. Rear-side and cargo door privacy glass is also standard as well as the “Sport” emblem. The Sport features a dark fabric interior and 6-disc CD radio.
  • The Limited includes 17″ alloy wheels with P225/65R17 Radial Tires, fog lamps, color-keyed fender flares, door handles, and foldable heated power side mirrors. Rear-side and cargo door privacy glass is also standard and the “Limited” emblem. Stand-out Limited features are the Smart Key System, Automatic Climate Control/Pollen Filtration, 6 disc CD/Satellite Capable Audio with leather-wrapped steering wheel audio controls, and an Optional 8-way Driver Power Seat.

Regardless of which model appeals to you, the Rav4 is a versatile, useful SUV that you can look forward to keeping around 15+ Years and it still have value in the market place. Also there is an Exclusive Lifetime Warranty available on new 2009 Rav4 models, Unlimited Miles, Unlimited Time!!

Yep, your day is a series of quick change personality morphs that require agility, flexibility, class and a Vehicle that embraces all you can throw at it!

The Cool News is that the folks at Toyota know this and they’ve built a vehicle with all the multiple capabilities you want and need….introducing Toyota Venza!

Here’s a brief overview and review of the all new exciting 2009 Toyota Venza. Get ready for Toyota to adjust your thinking about automotive form and function with Venza. Its name comes from “VEN” meaning Adventure and “ZA” from the Monza race track. Sculpted with a wide aggressive stance, Venza is a perfect blend of sleek styling, class, interior refinements, versatility, and driver performance while being a car with SUV utility capabilities. Toyota positions the Venza between the Camry and Highlander and next to the Avalon.

I’ve test driven the Venza in Alabama and it is overall stunning and exciting. The first thing that impresses me is Venza’s styling. I know you’ve seen designer sketches of cool cars that excite and expand your anticipation for the real car only to see a vastly watered down production version complete with small 14″ tires and wheel covers. Not the case with Venza…Toyota actually built the Venza exactly like the designer sketches right down to the 19″ tires and alloy wheels.

Inside regardless of whether you are the driver or the front passenger, due to Venza’s ingenious interior design, you immediately feel as if you own at least 60% of the space around you. No claustrophobia here,…and Venza drives, corners, and handles smooth yet responsive, just like you want it to.

Here’s a brief list of Venza Highlights:

  • Std. 2.7 4cyl.dual VVTI Engine, 182hp.,very quick, 30mpg+ Hwy
  • Available 3.5 6cyl. dual VVTI Engine, 268hp., both Engines matted to 6 speed automatic
